Do you find yourself wishing there was someone in the world who understands what you are going through? Groups are very beneficial for those who thrive through support, validation, cohesiveness, and vicarious learning. Sessions in the anxiety group contain psycho-education on anxiety, coping skills to manage anxiety symptoms, and discussion including shared experiences. Each session is different from the last. Interventions being used in this group will include cognitive restructuring, mindfulness techniques, and stress management skills. Mindfulness techniques are held at the beginning of each session in order to rid the members of the day’s stress; this enables members to be present in the moment and engage in-group interventions. Sessions are comprised of an activity to open discussion on topics relevant to the group. Gratitude exercises end each session to increase the member’s positivity before leaving.
